Does synthetic ice harm your skates?

The answer is NO. When people say that skating on the open ice synthetic surface will ruin your skate blades, they are misinformed. The synthetic surface will not actually ruin your blade, all it does is softens the edges quicker than skating on natural ice will. Simply put, skating on synthetic ice once is equivalent to skating 2 times on natural ice…you just need a sharpening.

Do you have a skate sharpening machine?

Yes, open ice has a Professional Blademaster Skate Sharpener. The same as in all major arena pro shops.

What equipment do you wear at Open Ice?

While at Open Ice for lessons, clinics or open ice time you will need minimum a helmet, hockey gloves, and elbow pads…other equipment is optional. During three on three games, full gear hockey is required.

How long will the surface last?

It will last 10 to 15 years. There is a slight shaving that comes off during usage.

How large is the ice surface at open ice?

The Open Ice facility is 80 feet long and 36 feet wide. It is a little less then half the size of a normal size ice rink.

What is 3 on 3 hockey?

3 on 3 is a skills game, played the width of the ice in one zone only.

What are the benefits of playing 3 on 3 hockey?

The rules of 3 on 3 hockey support the philosophy of continuous play, fast aggressive skating, fast puck movement, individual player creativeness and great goaltender showdowns.
